Caesar Cipher
Encode and decode text using Caesar cipher with custom shift values. One of the oldest encryption methods.
Enter the number of positions to shift each letter
About Caesar Cipher
The Caesar cipher is one of the simplest and most widely known encryption techniques. It's a type of substitution cipher where each letter in the plaintext is shifted a certain number of places down the alphabet.
Key features:
- Uses a fixed shift value (1-25)
- Only affects letters A-Z and a-z
- Numbers, symbols, and spaces remain unchanged
- Can be easily broken with frequency analysis
- ROT13 is a special case with shift value 13
Examples
Encoding (Shift 3):
Hello World
→ Khoor Zruog
Decoding (Shift 3):
Khoor Zruog
→ Hello World
